 China: Sinopec to enter the Coal-To-Chemical sector - December 7, 2011
Sinopec announced its plan to invest about 21 billion yuan ($3.3 billion) for 51% stake in a coal-to-olefins joint project, with a capacity of 1.8 million tons of olefins. Decision by the end of this year.

 

 

 World: CTL Production to reach b/d1.7m by 2035 according to International Energy Agency - Nov. 2011
CTL is expected to see significant growth according to the International Energy Agency. From less than 0.2 mb/d to 1 mb/d in 2015 and 1.7 mb/d in 2035.

 

 

 China, Guizhou province: Sinopec Coal-To-Olefins broke ground on September 28, 2011
First phase capacities are 300,000-TPA low density polyethylene and 300,000-TPA polypropylene, with a US$2.8bn investment. The entire project investment is estimated US$8.2bn.

 

 

 China-USA: Accelergy and Yankuang announce a partnership for a 68,000 bpd hybrid CTL plant - September 29, 2011
The facility, located in Erdos, Inner Mongolia, will utilize Accelergy's Micro-catalytic Coal Liquefaction system and Yankuang's Fischer-Tropsch indirect process. Thanks to Accelergy's TerraSync process (carbon capture and recycle), thermal efficiency is expected to be higher than 60% and CO2 emissions negligible.
